Staff Sergeant Jay Sutey is a bassoonist with the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West, Travis AFB, CA. Originally from Fairfax County, VA, his Air Force career began in 2017.
SSgt Sutey is a 2013 graduate of The University of North Texas where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and was recognized as the 2013 Outstanding Undergraduate in Music Education. In 2016, he received a Master’s Degree in Bassoon Performance from DePaul University. His teachers include Kathleen Reynolds, Bill Buchman, and Miles Maner. SSgt Sutey has performed with orchestras such as The Santa Rosa Symphony, Reno Philharmonic, Sacramento Choral Society, Opera Modesto, Madison Symphony Orchestra, Quad City Symphony Orchestra, and Civic Orchestra of Chicago.
