Staff Sergeant Mike Roe is a Percussionist with the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West, Travis AFB, CA. Originally from Brookings, South Dakota, his Air Force career began in 2018.
SSgt Roe is a 2012 graduate of South Dakota State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in music. In 2014 he received a master’s degree in percussion performance from the University of Arkansas, where he also received a performer’s certificate in 2015. SSgt Roe continued his education at the University of Nebraska, where he completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 2018.
Roe’s widely varied performance career has allowed him the opportunity to play in many distinctive venues, including the 2012 Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreux, Switzerland, two Jazz Education Network (JEN) National Conferences in 2017 and 2018, the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) in 2016, the Hollywood Bowl with the LA Philharmonic (2019), as well as NFL and NBA halftime performances.
