Technical Sergeant David Gonzalez Jr.

Technical Sgt. David González Jr. is a trombonist with the Concert Band, The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. Originally from Brownsville, Texas, his career in the Air Force began in 2014.

 

González earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2009 where he studied with Dr. Nathaniel Brickens. In 2012, he earned a Master of Music degree in trombone performance and brass pedagogy degree from Ohio University while studying with Dr. Chris Hayes and Andy Millat.

 

González joined the Concert Band in 2018. Prior to this assignment, he was stationed with the U.S. Air Force Band of Mid-America, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. During his time with the Band of Mid-America, González toured with the Concert Band, Airlifter Brass Quintet, and Shades of Blue Jazz Ensemble.

 

Prior to joining the Air Force, González performed with the Ludwig Symphony Orchestra, River Cities Symphony Orchestra, and the Ohio Valley Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed as a show band musician for Carnival Cruise Lines. In 2014, González participated in the Alessi Seminar held in Fossano, Italy. Additionally, he has served as the adjunct professor of trombone at McKendree University and at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
