Master Sergeant David González Jr. is a trombonist with the Ceremonial Brass, The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia–Bolling, Washington, D.C.
Originally from Brownsville, Texas, Sgt. González enlisted in the United States Air Force in 2014. He was first assigned to the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, where he performed with the Concert Band, Airlifter Brass Quintet and Shades of Blue Jazz Ensemble. He won his position with The United States Air Force Band in 2018.
Sgt. González holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The Catholic University of America. He completed the majority of his doctoral coursework at the University of Georgia and earned two Master of Music degrees in trombone performance and brass pedagogy from Ohio University. He also holds a Bachelor of Music degree in trombone performance from The University of Texas at Austin.
Prior to his Air Force service, Sgt. González performed with the Ludwig Symphony Orchestra, River Cities Symphony Orchestra and the Ohio Valley Symphony Orchestra. He also performed as a show band musician for Carnival Cruise Lines. In 2014, he was selected to participate in the Alessi Seminar in Fossano, Italy. Additionally, he served as adjunct professor of trombone at McKendree University and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
