Captain Christina Muncey

Captain Christina A. Muncey is the commander of the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia and the United States Air Force Heartland of America Band, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. Under her leadership, 75 Airman-Musicians perform across the East coast and Nebraska to honor America’s service members and veterans, inspire young people to serve, and connect the public with their Air and Space Forces. Capt Muncey organizes, trains and equips these units to communicate the Department of the Air Force’s strategic messages with Americans at home and strengthen international partnerships when deployed abroad.

Captain Muncey commissioned as a Distinguished Graduate from Officer Training School at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama, in April 2015. Before joining the Air Force, she served as Director of Bands at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. She held similar positions with the orchestra program at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, and served as Director of Instrumental Music at Wheat Ridge High School in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Captain Muncey holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Wind Conducting from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, and two degrees from Colorado State University: a Master of Music degree with a concentration in Orchestral Conducting, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education.

Prior to her current assignment, Captain Muncey was a flight commander for The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. She served as the Officer-in-Charge of the Concert Band, Singing Sergeants, Max Impact, the Airmen of Note, the Ceremonial Brass, Marketing and Outreach, and Productions among other positions. She was responsible to the Band commander for oversight of equipping and training a 184-member unit to accomplish more than 1,600 missions annually. Additionally, in 2019 Capt Muncey deployed to Southwest Asia as Officer-in-Charge of the U.S. Air Forces Central Command Band.
