The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

Technical Sergeant Forrest Sonntag

Technical Sgt. Forrest Sonntag is the Principal Trumpeter with the Concert Band, The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C.  A native of  Jupiter, Florida, his career in the Air Force began in 2017.

 

Sonntag earned his Bachelor of Music degree from The Manhattan School of Music in 2013. His principal teachers include Tye Riter, Vincent Penzarella, and Mark Gould. 

 

Prior to joining the Band, Sonntag held the positions of second trumpet with the Southwest Florida Symphony and lead trumpet with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines aboard the Oasis of the Seas.  Most recently, Sonntag held the position of second trumpet with the Jacksonville Symphony.
