Technical Sgt. Daniel Dowling is the drummer and percussionist with the Singing Sergeants, The United States Air Force Band, Washington, D.C. In addition to being a core member of the Singing Sergeants combo, Dowling regularly performs with the Concert Band. Originally from Houston, Texas, Dowling’s career in the Air Force began in July 2017 when he joined in the U.S. Air Force Band of the West, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.
In 2012, Dowling earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sound recording technology from Texas State University, San Marcos, Texas. Additionally, he studied drum set with Butch Miles and studied percussion with Kari Klier and Bobby Lopez. During this college years, he performed with artists such as Bob Mintzer, John Fedchock, Bill Watrous, Andre Hayward, Marvin Stamm, Carol Morgan, and Rufus Reid. Upon completing his degree, Dowling worked as freelance performer, percussion instructor, and audio engineer in the Austin and San Antonio areas. He has been featured as a clinician at the Texas Bandmasters Association convention.
While serving in the U.S. Air Force Band of the West, he participated in a community relations and recruitment tour to Puerto Rico that was conducted in partnership with the Air Force Recruiting Service in 2018.
