Staff Sergeant Michele Von Haugg is a clarinetist with the United States Air Force Band of the West where she is assigned to the Concert Band, the Ceremonial Marching Band, and the Mission Winds Clarinet Quartet. SSgt Von Haugg is a native East Berne, NY where she graduated from Berne – Knox - Westerlo High School in 2001. She earned her Bachelor of Music Education Degree (Summa Cum Laude) from Ithaca College in 2001 and her Master of Music Degree in clarinet performance (Summa Cum Laude) from New England Conservatory in 2006.
Passionate about Educational Outreach, Michele is founder of the non-profit organization, Daraja Music Initiative, based in Tanzania, Africa. Between her two active duty enlistments in the Air Force, SSgt Von Haugg toured the country and the world, performing for and lecturing on behalf of the Daraja Music Initiative. Additionally, SSgt Von Haugg has over twenty years of teaching experience in the collegiate, public school, and private studio setting.
SSgt Von Haugg has studied clarinet with Brett Wery, Michael Galvan, Tom Martin, and Robert DiLutis.
