Master Sergeant Brent Whitaker Master Sergeant Brent Whitaker, a native of Hazen, North Dakota, has been a member of the Air National Guard Band of the South since 2001. In addition to performing on trumpet with the Concert Band, he is vocalist and leader of Space-A, the Air National Guard Band of the South's newest rock band, and Director of Operations. Prior to joining the Air National Guard, Sergeant Whitaker was a Combat Engineer in the United States Army. Trained in both combat lifesaving and demolition, he left the Army after six years but continued to serve with the Army National Guard of Georgia, this time as a musician. After eight years of duty, he was released from Army Guard service and joined the Air National Guard. Sergeant Whitaker holds a Master of Music degree from Georgia Southern University. Sergeant Whitaker the head of the Department of Fine Arts at Southeast Bulloch High School. As a traditional member of the Air National Guard, Sergeant Whitaker serves one weekend a month, two weeks during the year and at other times when called to duty. In his free time, he enjoys composing and recording music, camping, fishing, and riding his motorcycle.
