Technical Sergeant Devin LaRue

TSgt Devin LaRue is assigned to the US Air Force Band of Mid-America at Scott Air Force Base, IL where he serves as an Audio Engineer. Graduating high school in Missouri in 2004, Sgt LaRue went directly into the Missouri Air National Guard and joined the 571st Air National Guard Band of the Central States as a euphonium and trombone player. In his time with the 571st, Sgt LaRue deployed to Chile, Southwest Asia, and performed guitar on many exciting TDY missions such as The White House and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He also worked with the Missouri Military Honors Program during that time and performed over 300 veteran funeral services. In 2013, Sgt LaRue transferred to the 566th Air National Guard Band of the Midwest in Peoria. He was activated in 2020 by the Governor of Illinois in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic and worked at several testing sites. Upon the decommissioning of the 566th and all remaining Air National Guard Bands in 2024, Sgt LaRue joined the Active Duty Air Force and transferred to the USAF Band of Mid-America.

Sgt LaRue graduated from the University of Missouri - St Louis with a Bachelor's of Arts in Music in 2010. His primary studies included euphonium performance, jazz trombone, and music composition. Towards the end of his degree program, he took an interest in audio engineering to supplement producing his own musical compositions. From there his continued interest in audio led him into a career in live production beginning in early 2011. As a freelance audio engineer, most of Sgt LaRue's work took place in corporate meetings and events throughout the US, though he often mixed audio in studio settings, and houses of worship in the St Louis area. In February 2021 Sgt LaRue took a technician position with the 182d Airlift Wing in Peoria, IL to handle much of the administrative work of the 566th AF Band. After the COVID-19 pandemic, he was happy to resume his freelance audio career in the Spring of 2022. Sgt LaRue also continues to write and publish his own music.
