Technical Sergeant Thomas Renken

TSgt Renken performs on trumpet with the Concert Band, Jazz Band, Brass Quintet and Protocol Combo.

Throughout his military career, he has served in six different bands in the Army, Army National Guard (ARNG) and Air National Guard (ANG).  He started his career in 1996 in the 10th Mountain Division Band, Ft. Drum, NY.  He left active duty in 2000 and joined the 199th ARNG Band in Buffalo, NY.  One year later he transferred to the 129th ARNG Band in Nashville, TN and remained in the band through 2004 while attending college. In 2005, he transferred into the 567th ANG Band of the Northeast and transferred again in 2008 into the 555th ANG Band of the Great Lakes.  After they were decommissioned in 2013, he joined the 566th ANG Band of the Midwest and continues to serve.

TSgt Renken's ancillary duties include working with Operations as an Event Coordinator and with Publicity managing content on the website and Facebook page.

TSgt Renken deployed to Bosnia in 1999 with the 10th Mountain Division Band.  He toured extensively throughout Bosnia and Hungary, performing with the Dixieland band, concert band and rock band for military and civilian populations from USA, Bosnia, Serbia, Turkey, Sweden, Denmark, Russia, Latvia, Poland and others.

TSgt Renken holds a dual BE in Math and Computer Science from Vanderbilt University and a Master's Certificate in Information Security from Worchester Polytechnic Institute.  His military education includes Air Assault, NBC and Primary Leadership Development Course.  In his civilian job he works as an Embedded Software Engineer.
