Technical Sergeant Andrew Lowe

Technical Sergeant Andrew Lowe is a trombonist and unit medical monitor with the ANG Band of the Northeast. Originally from Easton, Pa., his Air Force Career began in 1996. His first assignment was as a trombonist with the Air Force Band of Flight, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. He was a member of the concert band and jazz ensemble and toured with both groups throughout the Mid-west. In 1997, Airman 1st Class Lowe auditioned and was selected to be a member of the United States Air Force Band Ceremonial Brass in Washington, D.C. As a ceremonial trombonist and piano accompanist, Tech. Sgt Lowe performed for hundreds of official government ceremonies to include numerous performances at the White House as well as appearances on the TODAY Show every July Fourth. In addition, Tech. Sgt Lowe performed for full honors funerals at Arlington National Cemetery.

After a brief break in service, Andy received a direct commission as a first lieutenant in the USAF Medical Service Corps. 1st Lt .Lowe was selected as the academic award recipient at Commissioned Officer Training and then completed the Health Services Administration Course at Sheppard AFB, TX. His first assignment as an MSC Officer was at the 11th Medical Group, Bolling Air Force Base where he oversaw all business operations, resource management, patient administration, and medical logistics for three years. In 2005, Capt. Lowe did an inter-service transfer to the U.S. Public Health Service and served as the chief finance officer for the Division of Immigration Health Services for one year. In 2009, Andy decided to join the ANG Band of the Northeast after a 3.5 -year break in service.

Andy's educational accomplishments include a bachelor's degree in Music Industry and a master's degree in Trombone Performance both from the University of Miami. In addition, Andy has a certificate in Music Education from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University. Andy also has a Master's Degree in Business Administration and a Master of Arts Degree in Computer Resources and Information Management, both from Webster University.

Andy has performed with notable musicians such as Arturo Sandaval, Jiggs Wigham, Dave Brubeck, Duffy Jackson, Slide Hampton, John Fedchock, Bobby Shew, and Pete Christlieb. He was a member of the 1992 Disney All-American College Band performing throughout the Magic Kingdom, and at Universal Studios Florida in 1991. In his civilian career, Andy is a Senior Business Analyst with the Veteran's Health Administration, working out of Lebanon, Pa. He is a certified government financial manager and certified defense financial manager.

Andy's awards include the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal (1 oak leaf cluster), the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award (3 oak leaf clusters), the Air Force good conduct medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terror Service Medal, the United States Public Health Service Training Ribbon, and the Air Force Training ribbon (one oak leaf cluster).
