Staff Sergeant Elizabeth L Hobson

Staff Sergeant Elizabeth L. Hobson is a French horn player with the 553rd Air Force Band based at Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, PA.

Sergeant Hobson grew up around Austin, TX, and she graduated from Texas Tech University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Music in Performance, studying with Anthony Brittin and Christopher Smith. She continued her musical studies at the New England Conservatory of Music under Daniel Katzen and Jamie Sommerville of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. After completing her Master of Music in 2006, she returned to Texas to teach privately outside of Houston, TX, in Brazoria County.

Sergeant Hobson joined the Air Force in 2006 as a Regional Bandsman in the 531st Air National Guard Band of the Gulf Coast, based outside of Fort Worth, TX, at NAS JRB Fort Carswell. She was Third Horn/Assistant Principal Horn in the Concert Band as well as performing with the Horn Ensemble and Brass Quintet. Sergeant Hobson transferred to the 567th Air National Guard Band of the Northeast in 2008 based at the Joint Force Headquarters in Milford, MA, where she served as Principal Horn of the Concert Band.

In 2012, Sergeant Hobson transferred to the 553rd Band of the Northeast following her move to the metropolitan DC area to freelance and teach privately.

Sergeant Hobson's performance credits include the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, the New England Philharmonic, the San Antonio Symphony, and the Callithumpian Consort. She has also performed on concert tours with the Air Force Band of the West based at Lackland AFB, AF Band of the Reserve at Warner-Robbins AFB, AF Band of Liberty at Hanscom AFB, and AF Heritage of America Band at Langley AFB. Airman Hobson's military awards and decorations include the Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Outstanding Unit Award, and the Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal.

Sergeant Hobson lives in Alexandria, VA, with her husband and two cats. Her hobbies include running, sewing and quilting, and RPG video games.
