MSgt (MSgt) Kenneth Drefke hails from Marcus, Iowa and is the Superintendent for the United States Air Force (USAF) Heritage of America Band. He serves as advisor to the Commander and Chief Enlisted Manager and ensures that all administrative positions function efficiently to provide ready, trained and equipped Airmen for the unit’s stateside and global missions. Additionally, he directs professional and leadership development and guides the unit’s enlisted force on career progression opportunities.
Throughout his career, MSgt Drefke has performed on multiple woodwind instruments and served as Music Director or Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of several music performance teams. His collateral duties have included Operations Tour Manager, Supply, Purchasing, Commander’s Support Staff, Safety Monitor, Security Manager, Music Library, Commander’s Executive and Public Affairs Section Chief. MSgt Drefke recently completed a four year special duty as First Sergeant. In this role, he assisted squadron, group and installation Commanders in maintaining a mission-ready force, and managed numerous personnel programs that focused on Airmen’s health, morale, welfare and quality of life.
MSgt Drefke is an active freelance musician and was the clarinet/saxophone instructor and jazz director at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. His performance credits include Joe Williams, John Pizzarelli, Lee Greenwood, Johnny Mathis, The Four Tops, The Temptations, the Broadway Touring Musical “La Cage aux Folles”, William King, Byron Stripling, Eddie Daniels, and Arturo Sandoval.
