Chief Master Sergeant Patrick McDermott is the Senior Enlisted Leader for The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. He is responsible to the Band’s commander for functional oversight of operations, logistics, publicity, resource management, training and readiness for the 183-member unit. Prior to his current assignment, Chief McDermott served as the Chief of Operations for The USAF Band.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Chief McDermott's career in the Air Force began in 2002 as a trumpeter in The USAF Band’s Ceremonial Brass. Prior to joining the Air Force, he earned both Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Music degrees from Carnegie Mellon University in 1999 and 2002.
Career highlights include participation in four presidential inaugurations, the State Funerals of former Presidents Ronald Reagan, Gerald Ford, and George H.W. Bush, and numerous appearances on NBC’s “TODAY”.
