Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Nick Del Villano, a native of Binghamton, NY, serves as a trumpeter for the USAF Heritage of America Band. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, Potsdam NY in 2005 and a Master of Music degree in Trumpet Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2008.
Sergeant DelVillano spent a semester in Piteå, Sweden studying trumpet performance at the Musikhogskölan I Piteå. His primary teachers have included Ronald Romm (Canadian Brass), Michael Ewald (University of Illinois), Dr. John Ellis (Ottawa Symphony) and Michael Striejffert (Stockholm Philharmonic).
Prior to joining the Air Force, Sergeant DelVillano held principal trumpet positions in the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, The Prairie Ensemble, and the Baroque Artists of Champaign-Urbana. He has also performed with the Green Bay and Ottawa Symphonies. He was a 2005 Crane Concerto Competition Winner and performed in Carnegie Hall with the Crane Symphony Orchestra.
Sergeant DelVillano is an experienced music educator and taught public school music before joining the Air Force, teaching elementary, middle and high school students in a variety of settings. In his time since joining the Air Force, Sergeant DelVillano has performed both as a trumpeter and vocalist throughout the band's fifteen-state region as well as throughout Europe and Africa.
