Senior Master Sergeant George Father serves as the Assistant Career Field Manager for Air Force Bands, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, the Pentagon, Washington D.C. He leads/strategizes career field health, policy, accessions, manpower, personnel actions, force development, deployments and professional growth to inspire, guide and support over 600 Airmen. He is also an accomplished trombonist, arranger, and has been featured on vocals, euphonium, and tuba.
Sergeant Father studied trombone with Dr. Mark Hartman and Dr. Ava Ordman, and tuba with Dr. Charles Guy and Dr. Phil Sinder. In addition to his Air Force career, Sergeant Father performed with the Dave Holland Big Band, Battle Creek Symphony, West Shore Symphony, Lansing Symphony, Birmingham-Bloomfield Symphony, Anchorage Symphony, Omaha Symphony and was in the traveling pit orchestra for “The Producers.” Sergeant Father was also a Professor of Trombone at Lansing Community College and a Teaching Assistant at Michigan State University. He has deployed in support of Operations: INHERENT RESOLVE, FREEDOM’S SENTINEL, and SPARTAN SHIELD.
