The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

Technical Sergeant Alex Nikiforoff

Technical Sergeant Alex Nikiforoff was born and raised in Bismarck, North Dakota. After graduating from Bismarck High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and went to Boot Camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, 17 September, 2001. After serving 4 years with the MarForPac Band at MCBH Kaneohe Bay, HI, Sergeant Nikiforoff left active duty to pursue higher education at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado, where he earned his Bachelor Degree in K-12 Instrumental Music Education with an emphasis in Jazz Studies. While attending college, Sergeant Nikiforoff served with the 101st Army Band (Colorado Army National Guard) at Buckley AFB, Aurora, CO.
Sergeant Nikiforoff joined the United States Air Force in February 2009 and was assigned to the Band of the Golden West at Travis AFB, CA. In August 2012, he joined the U.S. Air Forces in Europe Band stationed at Ramstein AB, Germany.
