Staff Sergeant Daniel Thrower

Staff Sergeant Daniel Thrower performs on trumpet in  the United States Air Force Heartland of America Band, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. In addition to his musical duties, he serves as the Music Director for Offutt Brass and is a member of the publicity team.

Raised in Orem, Utah, Sergeant Thrower graduated high school in 1994.  He received his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Brigham Young University (BYU), and his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Arizona State University. Prior to enlisting in the Air Force, he was on the faculty at BYU, BYU-Idaho, Utah Valley University, the College of Eastern Utah (now Utah State University-Eastern), and the University of Texas at San Antonio. He still teaches an online music course for USU-E.

Sergeant Thrower's career highlights include supporting the 2017 Presidential Inauguration, playing principal trumpet for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games Closing Ceremony, several international music tours, and directing "The Utah Trumpet Guild." SSgt Thrower can be heard on a dozen commercially-released CDs and DVDs and is an internationally award-winning composer.
