Senior Master Sergeant Charles E Edgerly Senior Master Sergeant Charles Edgerly is the band's Superintendent. Sergeant Edgerly enlisted in the Massachusetts Air National Guard in 1990. He began his career on euphonium and assisted the percussion section before cross training as the band's audio engineer. Sergeant Edgerly has also served as the Drum Major, played drums in the jazz combo, and played drums and sang in the rock band. He currently narrates for the concert band and plays euphonium in the ceremonial band. Sergeant Edgerly has served as the assistant to the Chief of Supply, assistant to the Director of Operations, and Director of Operations. Sergeant Edgerly was the house sound technician at the Collins Center for the Performing Arts in Andover from 1988 through 1990 and worked with Mel Torme, Maynard Ferguson, Roberta Peters, and Harry Bellefonte. Sergeant Edgerly performed with the rock band Captain Black as well as the Metro West Community Band in Natick. Sergeant Edgerly is a police officer in civilian life. His military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Reserve Meritorious Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service medal. He was the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast's Airman of the Year (Iovinelli Award) in 1992 and 2011.
