Technical Sergeant Emily J. Shertzer

Technical Sergeant Emily Shertzer is an oboist and physical training leader/fitness monitor with the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast. Originally from Hummelstown, Pa., her Air Force career began in 2009.


Sergeant Shertzer graduated from Lower Dauphin High School in Hummelstown, Pa. She then attended Moravian College, Bethlehem, Pa., where she received a bachelor's degree in biology and minor in music. She also holds a master's degree in environmental science from the University of Texas, San Antonio, Texas.

Sergeant Shertzer currently resides in Jonestown, Pa., and works as an environmental planner at Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, Pa. She performs with the Lebanon Community Concert Band and has played with the Central Penn Symphony Orchestra.

Sergeant Shertzer was awarded the Air Force Female Athlete of the Year award for the year 2011. She has represented the Air Force and the Air National Guard in various competitive running events. She was also awarded the Army Achievement Medal and PA National Guard Commendation medal.
