Senior Airman Richard Freda

Senior Airman Richard Freda is the principal clarinetist and woodwind section leader with the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast. He also serves as assistant librarian. Originally from Ridley, Pa., his Air Force career began in 2003.

Airman Freda graduated from Ridley High School in 2001 where he was the first recipient of the PMEA district 12 Merrell scholarship. He holds a bachelor's degree in music education from West Chester University, West Chester, Pa (2005) and he also has a master of education degree from Auburn University, Auburn, AL (2009). He is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi national honor society. He has studied with Tony Ceferatti, Terry Guidetti and Josh Kovach. Sergeant Freda has also toured with the Air Force Band of the West, and was on their recording, "American Destinations"

Airman Freda currently resides in Norristown, Pa. He works as band director at Southwest Middle School, Reading, PA. 

Airman Freda's awards and decorations include the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with one oak leaf cluster; the National Defense Service Medal; and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
