Master Sergeant Bryan M. Gannon is the NCOIC of Supply and Trombonist at the United States Air Force Academy Band, Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado. He performs with the Concert Band, Marching Band, Stellar Brass, and Falconaires. He also manages the unit’s inventory and supply acquisition.
MSgt Gannon enlisted in the Air Force in January 2017, beginning his career as a Regional Band Apprentice at the United States Air Force Band of Flight at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. He primarily served as a member of the Spirit of Freedom brass ensemble, where he supported the missions of the 88th Air Base Wing and the National Museum of the United States Air Force. As a member of the Band of Flight, he arranged “Whirl into Berlin”, leading to the first and only recording of the historic Army Air Corps tune.
While assigned to the United States Air Force Academy Band, MSgt Bryan Gannon has performed for a variety of senior leaders, to include the President of the United States, Vice President of the United States, Secretary of Defense, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Secretary of the Air Force, Chief of Staff of the Air Force, and the Chief of Space Operations of the United States Space Force. He has also taught masterclasses at a variety of conservatories and universities, including the Eastman School of Music, University of Northern Colorado, University of Denver, University of Colorado Boulder, and Colorado State University. He also regularly substitutes with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic.
Prior to joining the Air Force, MSgt Gannon was an avid performer in Colorado and abroad. He was the principal trombonist for the Arapahoe Philharmonic Orchestra, Stratus Chamber Orchestra, and the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra. He also performed as a member of multiple pit orchestras, jazz bands, salsa bands, rock bands, and a variety of other commercial ensembles. MSgt Gannon also had the opportunity to perform along the coasts of the Caribbean, South America, and Antarctica as a musician aboard Crystal Cruises.
