Master Sergeant Darren Workman

Master Sgt. Kenneth Darren Workman is a trombonist with the Ceremonial Brass, The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. Originally from Thomasville, North Carolina, his career in the Air Force began in 2016 with the U.S. Air Force Band of Mid-America, Scott Air Force Base, Belleville, Illinois where he performed as a member of the Concert Band, Shades of Blue, and Airlifter Brass. His career with the Ceremonial Brass began in 2019. 

Sgt. Workman has won prestigious awards such as first place in the American Trombone Workshop's Division III National Bass Trombone Solo Competition and the Big 12 Trombone Conference Solo Competition. Additionally, Workman has performed with the Houston Symphony, San Antonio Symphony, Austin Symphony, Round Rock Symphony, Mid-Texas Symphony, Brazos Valley Symphony, and the award-winning University of Texas Trombone Choir. 

Sgt. Workman holds degrees from Appalachian State University and The University of Texas at Austin. His primary teachers include Dr. Nathaniel Brickens, Dr. Harold McKinney, John Kitzman, and Allen Barnhill. Before enlisting in the Air Force, Workman served as assistant professor of trombone at Texas Lutheran University and adjunct lecturer of trombone at Texas A&M - Kingsville.
