Master Sergeant Christopher M. Hammiel

Master Sergeant Chris Hammiel performs on trumpet with the USAF Band of Mid-America Concert Band and Shades of Blue jazz ensemble. Originally from Dayton, Ohio, he joined the Air Force in August 2001. Sergeant Hammiel is currently the Section Chief of Operations. He has previously held positions in the media/publicity shop, jazz ensemble musical director, operations representative, operations clerk and also worked in the music library.


Sergeant Hammiel attended Lebanon High School in Lebanon, Ohio, where he graduated in 1991. He continued his studies at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, until April of 1996 when he joined the Glenn Miller Orchestra. He toured with the Glenn Miller Orchestra until May of 1998 when he returned to Wright State University. In the fall of 1999 he transferred to the University of Oklahoma. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Oklahoma as well as a Masters in Music degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
