Staff Sergeant Cynthia Ramirez

Staff Sergeant Cynthia Ramirez, originally from Jacksonville, Texas, is a clarinetist for the USAF Heritage of America Band. SSgt Ramirez earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2001 and a Master of Clarinet Performance degree from UNLV in 2003. Her primary teachers include Dr. Janis Brown, Dr. Richard Shanley, and Dr. Raphael Sanders, Jr.

Before joining the Air Force in 2005, SSgt Ramirez was active as a clarinet teacher in Coppell and Lewisville, Texas. Due to her students' dedication and work ethic, her studio of 70 students consistently earned superior ratings at solo competitions and earned top positions at the regional and state levels.

As an Air Force musician, SSgt Ramirez had the pleasure of performing the world premier of "Angels with Red Tails," composed by Brian Duford. Duford composed the piece to honor the sacrifice and determination of the Tuskeegee Airmen, a vital part of US military aviation history. Several of the Tuskeegee Airmen were able to attend the performance, educating and reminding concert-goers of the continuous sacrifice that our airmen make.
