Senior Airman Daniel Omer performs on French horn for the Heritage Winds, Concert Band and Ceremonial Band ensembles within the USAF Heritage of America Band. SrA Omer was born and raised in Salt Lake City, UT, and earned his Bachelor of Music Degree in Horn Performance from Brigham Young University where he studied with Larry Lowe. He has also studied with some of the greatest orchestral, recording studio, and chamber horn players in the country, including Dale Clevenger, Phil Myers, Jim Thatcher, Bill Caballero, Roger Kaza, David Jolley, Gail Williams, Jacek Muzyk, Bruce Gifford, Brian O'Conner, and Jeff Scott.
SrA Omer began his professional career at age 15 as Principal Horn of the Grand Theatre in Salt Lake City, and has since performed in a myriad of orchestras, chamber ensembles, bands and recording studio engagements. He has toured throughout the country, and has performed in Carnegie Hall, Davies Hall in San Francisco, and Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City. SrA Omer has performed with the San Francisco Symphony, the Virginia Symphony, and the Utah Symphony as well as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Orchestra at Temple Square, Mannheim Steamroller, and Natalie Cole. He has also concertized as a soloist in Finland. He attended the Chautauqua Music Festival in New York, the National Repertory Orchestra in Colorado, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chamber Music Institute, and the Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival in New York City. SrA Omer's recordings can be heard and seen internationally on Tantara Records, BYU-TV, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir label.
SrA Omer completed USAF basic training as an Honor Graduate, and was recognized as the Heritage of America Band's Airman of the Year his first year on station. He has since performed for the Secretary of the Air Force Michael B. Donley, Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force James A. Cody, and President Barack Obama. During the Virginia International Tattoo 2013, SrA Omer helped garner international partnerships with members of the King's Guard Band of Norway, creating significant goodwill and rapport. Among SrA Omer's most cherished experiences in the band are those which involve playing for veterans and for children of military families.
