Master Sergeant Anna Andrew

Master Sergeant Anna Andrew is a clarinetist in the Band of the Golden West's Concert Band and Ceremonial Band.  She serves Operations Coordinator for the Concert Band.

A native of Nyssa, Oregon, Sergeant Andrew attended the University of Texas-San Antonio where she studied clarinet with Larry Mentzer.  In 1996 Sergeant Andrew won the UTSA concerto competition.  She graduated with a Bachelor's of Music degree in 1997, making the National Dean's list.  Sergeant Andrew earned a Master's of Music degree in 1999 while studying with Ronald DeKant at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.  In 2008 she won the second clarinet position with the Macon Symphony Orchestra.  Sergeant Andrew was also the clarinetist and founder of the Southern Winds Quintet.

Upon completion of Basic Training in 1999 as an Honor Graduate, Sergeant Andrew was assigned to the Band of the U.S. Air Force Reserve, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. During that time she has performed for many dignitaries including the President of the United States and Prime Minister of Ireland. Sergeant Andrew has performed on two compact disc recordings with the Concert Band, An American Hero and the Sound of Freedom. She has performed with notable guest artists such as Sandi Patty, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Celine Dion, Take Six, Vince Gill and Amy Grant.
