TSgt Carolyn Braus

Technical Sgt. Carolyn Braus is the baritone saxophonist with the Concert Band, The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. Originally from Bismarck, North Dakota, her Air Force career began in 2015.

A 2013 graduate from North Dakota State University, Braus earned a Bachelor of Music degree in saxophone performance with a minor in business administration. In 2015, she received a Master of Music degree from Arizona State University, where she was a teaching assistant and private lesson instructor through the ASU Music Prep Program. Braus was the winner of the 2013 North Dakota State University Concerto Competition and a finalist in the 2014 North American Saxophone Alliance Solo Competition. As the tenor saxophonist with the Mosaic Saxophone Quartet, she was a finalist in the 2015 Astral Artists National Auditions and was awarded second place in the 2015 Music Teachers National Association Chamber Music Competition. Braus is currently the baritone saxophonist with the Capitol Quartet. She has also performed with numerous big bands and popular music groups in the Phoenix area and has shared the stage with guest artists including Benny Golson, Ralph Alessi, Ingrid Jensen, Lewis Nash, and the Temptations. Her principal teachers have been Matthew Patnode and Christopher Creviston.
