Technical Sergeant Technical Sgt. Carolyn Braus

Technical Sgt. Carolyn Braus is the principal alto saxophonist with the Concert Band, The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. Originally from Bismarck, North Dakota, her career in the Air Force began in 2015.

Before joining the Air Force, Braus performed with the Mosaic Saxophone Quartet, winning second place in the 2015 Music Teachers National Association Chamber Music Competition. She also served as baritone saxophonist with the esteemed Capitol Quartet from 2015 to 2016.

A graduate of North Dakota State University, Braus received a Bachelor of Music degree in saxophone performance, followed by a Master of Music degree from Arizona State University. She received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Maryland, where she also served as the interim saxophone professor in 2021.
