Master Sergeant Roy L. Wimbush Jr.

Master Sgt. Roy L. Wimbush Jr. is a tubist with the Ceremonial Brass, The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. Before joining the Ceremonial Brass in June 2002, Wimbush was assigned to the Band of the Golden West at Travis Air Force Base, California. A native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, his career in the Air Force began in May 2000.

Air Force career highlights have included performances in the inaugural ceremony for President Barack Obama, and state funerals for Presidents Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan. During  Wimbush's studies at the New World School of the Arts in Miami, he was awarded the Outstanding Newcomer award, the Outstanding Brass Musician award and the Outstanding Musician award. He then attended the Cincinnati Conservatory, where he helped reinstate the undergraduate brass quintet. His teachers include Jay Bertolet, James Jenkins and Tom Northcut. Before joining The U.S. Air Force Band, Wimbush was a featured soloist with the Santa Rosa Symphony.
