Senior Master Sgt. Matthew Nudell is a trombonist with the Concert Band, The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. Originally from Hettinger, North Dakota, his Air Force career began in 2009.
A 2005 graduate of St. Olaf College, Nudell earned a Bachelor of Music degree in music education. While at St. Olaf, he soloed with the St. Olaf Orchestra and was a featured soloist on the St. Olaf Band's tour of Norway. In 2007, he graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, with a Master of Music degree in trombone performance. While in Dallas, he performed with numerous ensembles including the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. His teachers include Paul Niemisto, Tom Ashworth and John Kitzman.
Air Force career highlights include performing for NBC's TODAY, a 2011 Mets vs.Yankees game and the Washington, D.C. National Menorah Lighting.
