Senior Master Sgt. Aaron Moats is the Superintendent of Marketing and Outreach for The United States Air Force Band, Washington, D.C. Originally from Kettering, Ohio, he joined the Band in 2003 as a trombonist with the Ceremonial Brass.
Before joining the Air Force, Sgt. Moats was an active freelance musician in Washington, D.C., performing with the National, Baltimore and Alexandria symphony orchestras, the Wolf Trap and Baltimore operas, and the Signature Theater among others. He served on the faculty of the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, participated in Chamber Music America’s Rural Residency Program and was a finalist in the Young Artist Guild competition in New York City.
After graduating from the Interlochen Arts Academy, Sgt. Moats earned a Bachelor of Music degree and performer’s certificate from the Eastman School of Music. He continued his studies as a graduate fellow at the University of Maryland, earning a Master of Music degree. His former teachers include John Marcellus, Milt Stevens and Jeannie Little.
