Chief Master Sergeant Brian Roger Mann

Chief Master Sgt. Brian Mann is the Chief of Operations for The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C.  He is responsible for the planning and execution of 1600 musical missions annually for the 184-member unit.  Before his current assignment, Chief Mann served as Section Chief of Unit Operations.

Originally from Waseca, Minnesota, Chief Mann joined the Air Force in 2001 as a percussionist with the Heartland of America Band, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, where he performed with the Ceremonial Band, Concert Band, and the Noteables Jazz Ensemble. He joined The United States Air Force Band in 2003, serving as a percussionist with the Ceremonial Brass for 17 years.

A 2001 graduate of The University of South Dakota, Chief Mann earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree. During his collegiate studies, he was an MTNA National Finalist, a University of South Dakota Concerto competition winner, and MENC president. He has studied percussion with Dr. Sarah Smith-Waters and jazz improvisation with Dr. Christopher Kocher.

Career highlights include participation in five presidential inaugurations, the State Funerals of former Presidents Ronald Regan and George H. W. Bush, and performing with the USAFE Band at NATO fest.
