Chief Master Sgt. Nathan Lavy is the Chief of Marketing & Outreach and is a percussionist with the Ceremonial Brass. Originally from Sandusky, Ohio, he began his Air Force career in 1998 as a percussionist with the Air Force Band of Flight at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, where he performed with the Concert Band, Wright Brass Quintet, Night Flight Jazz Ensemble, and Systems Go rock band. He joined The United States Air Force Band in 2004, and has also performed with the Concert Band, Airmen of Note, Max Impact, Singing Sergeants, Diplomats, and District Brass.
Prior to joining the Air Force, Chief Lavy performed with Arturo Sandoval, Joe Williams, John Pizzarelli, The Gatlin Brothers, and Toni Tennille. He was was a member of Disney's "All-American College Band'' and Star of Indiana's Brass Theatre.
Chief Lavy’s Air Force career highlights include participation in five presidential inaugurals, two Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parades, multiple NBC Today Show appearances, two deployments to US Air Force Central Command, and performances at Super Bowls and XLV and LIV.
A 1997 graduate of Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky, Chief Lavy earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree. His former teachers include Frank Oddis, Thom Hannum, Rick Goodstein, Jim Rupp and Chuck Redd.
