Chief Master Sgt. Nathan Lavy is the Flight Chief of the Air Force Strings and Chief of Unit Supply. Originally from Sandusky, Ohio, he began his Air Force career in 1998 as a percussionist with the Air Force Band of Flight at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, where he performed with the Concert Band, Wright Brass Quintet, Night Flight Jazz Ensemble, and Systems Go rock band. He joined The United States Air Force Band in 2004 as a percussionist with the Ceremonial Brass and has performed with the Concert Band, Airmen of Note, Max Impact, Singing Sergeants, Diplomats, and District Brass.
Prior to joining the Air Force, Chief Lavy performed with Arturo Sandoval, Joe Williams, John Pizzarelli, the Gatlin Brothers, and Toni Tennille. He was also a member of Disney's "All-American College Band'' and Star of Indiana's Brass Theatre.
Chief Lavy earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Morehead State University. His former teachers include Frank Oddis, Thom Hannum, Rick Goodstein, Jim Rupp and Chuck Redd.
