Senior Master Sergeant Emily L. Wellington

Senior Master Sgt. Emily Wellington is an alto vocalist with the Singing Sergeants, The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. She also currently serves as the Section Chief of Audio and Video Production. A native of Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, her career in the Air Force began in January 2006.

Before joining the Air Force, Wellington graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Music degree in music education with a violin concentration. At Temple, she was both a soloist and chorus member with the Women's Choir and University Singers. She was also a violinist with the Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Opera Orchestra and Chamber Sinfonia.

In 2011, Wellington completed a Master of Music degree in violin performance at George Mason University, studying with Dr. Laura Kobayashi. Her former teachers include Phyllis Lewis, Sally Grobani, Pamela deWall, William dePasquale, former co-concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and Edwin Johonnott, formerly of the National Symphony. Currently, she studies voice with Claudia Catania, former member of the Metropolitan Opera. Wellington has performed extensively in the Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. areas, including an appearance with the National Symphony while performing with the Potomac River Chorale.

Air Force career highlights include a deployment to entertain troops as a vocalist and violinist in 2010, singing for the funeral of former President Gerald Ford, a solo performance for former Presidents Obama and Clinton in the Capitol Rotunda, and countless opportunities to reach out to our communities and honor our Nation's Veterans.
