Master Sgt. Joseph Haughton is a tenor vocalist with the Singing Sergeants, The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, his career in the United States Air Force began in 2005.
A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Haughton received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in vocal performance in 2002.
Before joining the Air Force, Haughton appeared with Washington Concert Opera, Mobile Opera, Pensacola Opera, Asheville Lyric Opera, Pittsburgh Opera and Pittsburgh Opera Theater.
Since joining the Air Force, Haughton has performed with the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Annapolis Opera, The In Series, Chesapeake Chamber Opera and Chautauqua Opera. He currently studies voice with New York City Opera mezzo-soprano, Claudia Catania. Sergeant Haughton was a regional finalist for the Metropolitan Opera Competition for the Gulf Coast Region in 2004, Great Lakes Region in 2005 and Middle Atlantic Region in 2007.
