Senior Master Sgt. Geoffrey Reecer is the guitarist and flight superintendent for the Airmen of Note, The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. A native of Potomac, Maryland, his career in the Air Force began in 2004.
Before joining the Air Force, he performed extensively as a freelance musician in the D.C. area for several years. As a member of the Airmen of Note, he has had the opportunity to perform duets in concert with Ron Carter, Bob Mintzer and Kurt Rosenwinkel. Reecer's Air Force career highlights include the Jazz Heritage Series concerts with Ron Carter, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Joey DeFrancesco, as well as the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic performance with Bob Mintzer. Reecer performed at the Hartford, San Jose and Detroit Jazz Festivals. He also participated in several Airmen of Note recordings including "A Holiday Note from Home," "Out in Front," "Airmen of Note Live" and "Cool Yule."
Reecer earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in music business from the University of Maryland in 1994. He was a first place winner in the Emerging Jazz Artist Competition held at the East Coast Jazz Festival in 1993. Reecer studied with Jim Hall, Charlie Banacos and Walt Weiskopf.
