SMSgt Kenneth R. Oedemann


Senior Master Sgt. Kenneth R. Oedemann is the Superintendent and trumpeter with the Ceremonial Brass, The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. Originally from Southampton, Pennsylvania, his career in the Air Force began in 1995 as a cornetist with the Band of the United States Air Force Reserve, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. Sergeant Oedemann joined the United States Air Force Band in 1998 as a member of the Concert Band, and in 2003 he joined the Ceremonial Brass.

A graduate of Pennsylvania State University, Oedemann received a Bachelor of Science in music education and a Master of Music in trumpet performance. During his collegiate studies, he was awarded the Atherton, Dunlop and Applied Music Scholarships. As a graduate teaching assistant, he taught trumpet, sight singing and ear training. His former teachers include Donald Benedetti, Robert Howard, John Daniel, and Larry Black.

Before joining the Air Force, he performed with the Penn State Faculty Brass Quintet, American Wind Symphony Orchestra, Penn's Woods Festival Orchestra, Altoona Symphony Orchestra and Pennsylvania Centre Stage. Oedemann's professional affiliations include membership in the International Trumpet Guild and the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society.

Air Force career highlights include the 2012 Ceremonial Brass Tour, performances at two Midwest Band and Orchestra conventions, and performing in five Presidential Inaugurations.
