Chief Master Sgt. Brett E. Miller is the Chief of the Concert Band as well as principal French horn. Originally from Boardman, Ohio, he joined the United States Air Force in 2002 as a member of the Ceremonial Brass.
In addition to performing with the Band, he is a highly-regarded composer, having published over 40 works for various brass solo instruments and chamber ensembles, with his pieces having been performed on six continents, including performing his "Concerto for Horn" on tour with the Concert Band in his hometown.
Miller earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Youngstown State University in 1999. He went on to earn a Master of Music degree from Indiana University in 2001 and a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Maryland in 2007. His teachers include Greg Miller, Marty Hackleman, Michael Hatfield, Bill Slocum, David Jolley, Phil Munds, Jerome Ashby, and Larry Miller, his father and first teacher.
