Chief Master Sergeant Taylor Armstrong is Chief of the Commander’s Support Staff and Chief of Marketing and Outreach for The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia Bolling, Washington, D.C. Originally from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Chief Armstrong joined The United States Air Force Band in 2005 as a vocalist in the Singing Sergeants.
He previously served as the Superintendent of the Singing Sergeants and Max Impact, Section Chief of Flight Production for the Singing Sergeants, and for over 12 years as the enlisted conductor and pianist for the Singing Sergeants and principal pianist for the Concert Band. In 2025, Chief Armstrong deployed to CENTCOM to lead the USAFCENT Band throughout Central and Southwest Asia, where he led two teams on 118 strategic outreach missions across 11 nations. Other career highlights include leading the Singing Sergeants as conductor and music director for multiple ACDA conventions, performing as solo pianist for Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue on tour with the Concert Band, and two appearances as a conductor and pianist with the Singing Sergeants while featured with the Boston Pops during live Independence Day broadcasts.
Prior to entering the Air Force, Chief Armstrong earned a Bachelor of Music at Susquehanna University and a Master of Music and Graduate Performance Diploma at the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He has performed as a soloist with the Baltimore Opera Company, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Concert Artists of Baltimore, Da Camera Singers, Annapolis Opera, Summer Opera Theater in Washington, D.C., Handel Choir of Baltimore, and the Baltimore Chamber Symphony. Additionally, Chief Armstrong was an Apprentice Artist with the Santa Fe Opera, a Fellow in Vocal Chamber Music at the Aspen Music Festival, and he taught as a member of the music faculty at Rutgers University, Shepherd University, and Morgan State University.
