The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

Master Sergeant Laura Henry Shoun

Master Sgt. Laura Henry Shoun is a clarinetist with the Concert Band, The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. Originally from Apple Valley, Minnesota, her Air Force Career began in 2011.

Before joining the Air Force, she was second clarinetist with the Green Bay Symphony. She has also performed with the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge, Colorado and at the Aspen Music Festival.

A graduate of Northwestern University, Shoun received a Bachelor of Music degree in clarinet performance in 2007. In 2009, she graduated with her Master of Music degree from the University of Minnesota. Her primary teachers were Russell Dagon, Steve Cohen, and Burt Hara.
