Chief Master Sgt. Joshua Cullum is the Chief of Operations for The United States Air Force Band, Washington, D.C. where he is responsible for the planning and execution of 1600 missions annually for the 184-member unit. Previously he served as the Superintendents of Operations, Resources, and the Ceremonial Brass and as the Assistant Drum Major from 2019-2021. Originally from Green City, Missouri, he joined the Band in 2009 as a trombonist with the Ceremonial Brass.
Before joining the Air Force, Chief Cullum earned a Master of Music degree from Yale University School of Music in 2008 and a Bachelor of Music from Eastman School of Music in 2006. He has performed with the National Symphony, Kansas City Symphony, Syracuse Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic, Richmond Symphony, and Delaware Symphony. He also enjoys teaching and has been a clinician at the University of Delaware, University of Akron, and Kent State University.
Sergeant Cullum's Air Force career highlights include serving as the AFDW/A5X Ceremonial Planner for the 2025 Presidential Inauguration and performing on the 2012 and 2022 Airmen of Note national tours, two presidential inaugural parades, two Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parades, 2014 Kennedy Center Honors, Anthems at Nationals Park, Yankee Stadium, Citi Field, and U.S. Bank Stadium, and numerous appearances on NBC's TODAY Show.
