Senior Airman Dusty Carlson Senior Airman Dusty Carlson, from Chicago, IL, is a bassist with the USAF Band of Mid-America, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. He currently performs with Roots in Blue and the Concert Band and has also performed with Starlifter. In addition to his musical duties, Airman Carlson has worked in the Supply shop and currently works in the Finance/Travel shop for the band.Airman Carlson entered the Air Force in August 2018. Prior to joining, he performed on cruise ships, toured internationally, and taught and performed with a variety of ensembles in the Chicago area. After graduating from Western Illinois University, he resided in the Pacific Northwest where he taught, toured, recorded, and went to school for a masters degree. After graduating from the University of Oregon with a Masters in jazz studies, he spent 2 years performing on cruise ships with Royal Caribbean in the show band and jazz groups, as well as being the onboard music coordinator.
