TSgt Derek Hinderliter


Technical Sergeant Derek Hinderliter is a native of Hamilton, Ohio. After receiving a Bachelor’s in Jazz Studies (Saxophone) from Morehead State University in 1999, he joined the Air Force Bands in 2001 at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. His first overseas assignment took him to Sembach AFB, Germany in 2005 to join the United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) Band. Scott AFB, IL was his next move in 2010 where he performed as a part of the Band of Mid-America, as well as working locally as an orchestra pit musician. Prior to his current assignment at the Band of the West, Technical Sergeant Hinderliter had the opportunity to support our NATO partners as part of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) International Band near Brussels Belgium. It was there that he was able to utilize his French language skills by serving as the band’s announcer and translator. Arriving in sunny San Antonio in 2019 he enjoys exploring the local food culture with his wife Adrianne, as well as running with their dog Bob.
