A1C Andrew Payton

Airman First Class Andrew Payton is a tubist with the Air Force Band of the West. Originally from the midwest, his Air Force career began in 2018. A1C Payton is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Tuba Performance, Bachelor of Music in Music Education, and a Performer's Certificate. Additionally, he pursued further graduate studies from Rice University's Shepherd School of Music. His teachers include Scott Tegge, Don Harry, and Dave Kirk. Prior to his current assignment at the Band of the West, A1C Payton was an active freelance musician, performing with ensembles such as the Buffalo Philharmonic, Houston Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic, and the Syracuse Symphoria. He likes to spend as much of his free time outdoors exploring the sights and sounds of the hill country and west Texas.
