MSgt Ruan Brits

Master Sgt. Ruan Brits is the First Sergeant, The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. He serves as the key enlisted advisor to the Band’s Commander on matters concerning the welfare, career progression and mission readiness of more than 187 personnel. Sergeant Brits provides guidance and direction to squadron senior leadership on unit morale, career enhancement and discipline.

Sergeant Brits grew up in Pretoria, South Africa and enlisted in the Air Force in June 2000. He has an extensive background that includes vehicle maintenance, logistical support, fire protection and instructor duties at the DOD Fire Academy, Goodfellow AFB, Texas. Sergeant Brits has served as the First Sergeant for the 4th, 7th, and 8th Airlift Squadrons, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

Prior to his current assignment, Sergeant Brits served as the First Sergeant, 39th Comptroller Squadron & Wing Staff Agencies, Incirlik AB, Turkey.
