Senior Airman Jay Sutey is a bassoonist with the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West, Travis AFB, CA. Originally from Fairfax County, VA, his Air Force career began in 2017.
SrA Sutey is a 2013 graduate of The University of North Texas where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in music education. In 2016, he received a Master’s degree in bassoon performance from DePaul University. His teachers include Kathleen Reynolds, Bill Buchman, and Miles Maner. A1C Sutey has performed with orchestras such as Opera Modesto, Madison Symphony Orchestra, Quad City Symphony Orchestra, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and Northbrook Symphony Orchestra. SrA Sutey is also one of the founding members of The Maryland Wind Festival, a summer chamber music festival dedicated to exploring music written for small woodwind ensembles, expanding the medium through commission projects, and bringing high quality musical performances and education workshops to the western Maryland community.
