Tech Sergeant Nicole Vander Does Technical Sgt. Nicole Vander Does is a soprano vocalist with the Singing Sergeants, The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. A native of Parker, Colorado, her career in the Air Force began in July 2018. Vander Does earned a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from Utah State University in Logan, Utah. She participated in the USU Chamber Singers under the direction of Dr. Cory Evans, as well as a soloist for the American Festival Chorus under the direction of Dr. Craig Jessop, former music director of The Tabernacle Choir and a former officer in charge of the Singing Sergeants. Vander Does has had the privilege of working with a variety of vocal instructors, Dr. Cindy Dewey, Laurie Hart, Dr. Melissa Malde, and Dr. Michael Ballam. Prior to joining the Air Force, Vander Does participated in both opera and musical theater. Some roles she has been featured in include Woman 2 in “Songs for a New World,” the Witch in “Big Fish,” Madame/Narrator in “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” Arminda in Mozart’s “La finta giardiniera,” and the Mother in Menotti’s “Amahl and the Night Visitors.”
