Master Sergeant Scott Sauer is a trumpet player with the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America, Scott AFB, Illinois. He is a member of the Concert Band, Ceremonial Band and the Shades of Blue Jazz Ensemble. In addition to his musical duties, Sergeant Sauer serves as Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) of the Shades of Blue Jazz Ensemble.
Sergeant Sauer was born and raised in Spokane, Washington. He attended Eastern Washington University where he graduated with his Bachelor of Music degree in 1997. While at Eastern Washington University he studied trumpet with Larry Jess.
Sergeant Sauer enlisted in the United States Air Force in June 1998 and began his first assignment as a trumpeter with the USAF Band of the Golden West in August 1998. As an enlisted member of the USAF Band of the Golden West, he performed in six different ensembles and was versatile in all styles of music. In 2003 Sergeant Sauer was assigned to the Band of the Pacific at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. He performed with three separate ensembles. He returned stateside in 2008 to the Band of Mid-America.
